Ginger is a 65lb, female Golden Retriever who was saved from euthanasia at a kill shelter. We are unsure of her age, but the vet guess is about 5 years old. We are happy to report she is in a foster home and adjusting very well! Her foster mom says "I brought Ginger home from the kennel- she is a doll! Ginny is what I’m calling her and she is the rarest color of all Goldens- this beautiful scarlet red and she is so tiny- the perfect small size! She is so gentle, so loving and is slowly learning to trust humans. She comes up to us and immediately gives you a small kiss, seeking out attention. She does great with our other dogs too! In fact, we feel Ginger would do best in a home with another stable dog, to help show her the ropes, and help build her own confidence. She is still pretty timid, and is not the dog that will like to go on outings to the local outdoor bars, or parks right now. She needs a family with time and patience to work with her on socialization and understanding it will take time.
This sweet girl rides well in the car, is crate trained and very quiet and content in there. We have been leash walking for potty breaks and she’s doing great, nor has she had any accidents in her crate at night. Please help us find sweet Ginny her furever home... We just KNOW she is going to blossom with her forever family!"
Our GRRAND volunteers who attended to her at the kennel say "Ginger is a total sweetheart with no aggression at all. She's nervous, but less so every day and very friendly. She likes other dogs and comes up to volunteers to be petted. Isn't messing in her run so we believe she is housetrained, but we are still learning about her. We do know she is a beautiful, sweet girl needing a loving, patient home with a secure fenced yard."
Please check back for more info on Ginger, but if you would like to meet her, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org
