Grits is 6 1/2 years old and is a shepherd mix. We haven't done genetic testing on her, but have been told she's likely part Anatolian Shepherd, part Red Heeler.
Grits weighs about 53 lbs and is a sweetheart with humans as well as with the dogs she knew as a puppy. She is really well-trained, spade, listens well to commands, is easy to walk both on and off leash, and is a great trail companion. She loves hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and even backcountry skiing. She is starting to slow down a bit as she gets into middle age, but she's still active and LOVES being in nature. She also loves chasing sticks, and swimming.
While she's usually good with dogs on the trail, giving them a quick sniff and continuing on her way, she does not do well with other pets in the same house as her. This is why she needs to be the only pet in a household.
