My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Major Tom!

Major Tom is a young male mouse who is looking for a forever home! He enjoys greeting his caretakers by running up to the side of the tank and putting his paws on the glass to give a little 'high-five', exploring (and rebuilding) his paper towel roll and paper tunnels, going for a stroll on his wheel, and sleeping in his little igloo, tucked into his soft bedding. He is an extroverted little fellow and doesn't shy away from greeting new humans he meets! He will also sit calmly in your hand; he likes to pretend it’s his space shuttle taking off!

Major Tom likes to run around his habitat to his own rendition of his favorite tune...

"Here, am I running 'round my wheel,

Far above my bedding,

My igloo is blue,

And there’s so much for me to chew”

Please reach out to mice@smallangelsrescue.org for more information or if you are interested in adopting Major Tom! Please note that since Major Tom is an intact male mouse, he will need to live by himself. The adoption fee is $25.

**Notes about mouse care** 1) Minimum habitat size: 20 gallon aquarium tank or bin-cage of a similar size for one mouse; must have mesh lid to prevent mouse from escaping; 2) Appropriate wheel: Solid plastic upright wheel at least 6 inches or larger depending on the size of the mouse.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Small Angels Rescue’s adoption process is straightforward. Adopters must fill out an adoption application. There is an application for guinea pigs and a separate application for other animals. Once we have the completed application, we interview the adopter by phone or e-mail to clear up any questions and concerns about the application—including whether the adopter meets our cage requirements and has the proper supplies—and to ensure that the adopter has all of the information needed to properly care for the animal. At the time of adoption, adopters must sign an adoption contract.

Adoption fees: Mice, Gerbils, Hamsters & Rats: $10 each for the first three animals, then $5 each thereafter. Guinea Pigs: $45 each unaltered, $65 neutered males, $80 spayed females, $90 bonded pairs.

Go meet their pets

Small Angels Rescue does not have a physical shelter; rather we care for animals through our network of foster care homes. As such, adoptions are scheduled by appointment only at times and locations agreed upon by the rescue and the adopter.

More about this rescue

Small Angels was founded in fall of 2003 when the organizers recognized a need for a group to help small animals abandoned at animal shelters. The Rescue was founded as a way to move these animals into foster homes for socialization and proper, attentive care, as well as streamline the adoption process and provide accurate, thorough information to adopters about these often misunderstood animals.

Small Angels is a 501(3)(3) nonprofit, no‐kill, all‐volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming guinea pigs, rats and hamsters. Animals are acquired directly via public surrenders and from local shelters and animal welfare groups. We use an extensive network of foster homes to care for the animals until we can find them a forever home.
