My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I'm Ernie, a sweet lab mix around 8 years young, and I'm on the lookout for my forever home! I'm a calm and cozy pup who loves lounging nearby while you work or relax. I've recently discovered my playful side and enjoy spreading out my toys from the toy bin, admiring my "work like a proud artist!

I get along great with kids, other dogs, and new people. I find cats a little too fun to chase so I would do best in a feline-free home. I would LOVE another canine companion in my forever home. When we go for walks, I might pull a bit to explore all the interesting scents, but soon I'll settle into a nice trot. Walks are my favorite activity and I'm never ready for them to end!

My foster parents leave me home alone (uncrated) and they always return to the house in perfect condition. My hearing isn't the best, so you can sneak up on me without startling me!

I had a bit of a rough start, but I'm getting healthier every day and the vet says I'm doing great! I was found a little too thin, so my foster parents have been helping me gain weight. I am scheduled for my neuter at PLR's partner vet in Apex on November 5th. I am heartworm positive, so I will need to go back to PLR's vet in Apex in a couple of weeks for an overnight stay to complete my heartworm treatment. The cost of the neuter and the heartworm treatment can only be covered by Peak Lab Rescue if done at one of their vets in Apex.

I may be an older pup, but I have so much love to give! My calm demeanor combined with my playful spirit makes me the perfect addition to any family. If you're looking for a loyal companion-let's meet! I can't wait to find my forever home where I can thrive and share all my cuddles. Could that be with you?
