My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Patty,

When Patty first arrived at our shelter, she was in poor physical health, and was very nervous about the world around her. Everything was new to her, from trusting humans, to eating from proper food bowls, to going out on walks, to even just playing as any puppy should.

Patty has made huge strides while in our care, but she is still going to need lots of ongoing support with her future family. Patty can be nervous of new people and in new situations, and is looking for a home that can positively build her confidence. She is highly food and toy motivated which helps a lot for training, games, and building trust!

We expect that the first few weeks in a new home is going to be an overwhelming experience for Patty. Because of this, Patty should go to a home with breed experience- she would not be a great fit for a new dog guardian. She loves a consistent routine and will need patience and time to adapt to a new life. She has been doing very well with potty-training in shelter, and would love yard access to continue training.

Patty LOVES toys and making friends with some of the other shelter dogs. She is a young and energetic girl, and her play style can be a bit overwhelming to small or senior dogs - though she may enjoy sharing a home with another outgoing dog. Patty is very social and affectionate with her people, and we can't wait to see who scoops this sweet girl up.

If you are ready to take on a new puppy, please drop in from 12pm-3pm Tuesday-Sunday to meet Patty and fill out an application, or, apply online through the BC SPCA website.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:
