My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peaches arrived at the shelter along with her siblings, Panda & Peanut. This trio are super adorable & affectionate. They all tend to be cautious in new situations, and would benefit from building their confidence with Fear Free training. Peaches has lived her life so far outside, and doesn't have experience in a home environment. We recommend working with an AnimalKind trainer to help these pups get off to a good start in their new homes! All 3 of these cuties are dog-social and would love a canine companion in their next home. Are you looking for a young, playful and active companion? Submit your application to express interest in adoption!

Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
