NEW INTAKE 10/22/2024: Twixie - female - approx 3 years old - 4.10 pounds - Chihuahua
Reason for intake: Twixie came to us from Caddo Parish Animal Services. She was posted on-line by the shelter. We noticed she was heartworm positive and that no one really had commented on her. We reached out to the rescue coordinator that evening and asked to tag her and they said "yes"... and we picked her up the following day! What a sweetheart! She is currently at our vet for spaying and everything else she needs including a re-heartworm test and if she is in fact, positive... we will start her on the slow-kill or gentle-kill method. More information about that process will be in her write-up when we post her for adoption. Stay tuned.
NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. Be responsible ~ Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life. Blessings.
