Hey there! Ryan Reynolds is my name, but you probably already knew that. I have unfortunately had a rough go if it when it comes to finding that right fit - I was adopted out twice but returned not long after because they didn't understand that I am what you call a "project dog". I then was adopted out another time, and man, was I thriving with them... until I wasn't. They really worked with me to be the best dog I could be, but umltimately, the children in my home were my downfall. I was friendly with them at first, but over time, the loud noises, kid's toys, and commotion was all just too much for me. I started to develop some protectiveness of my main caretaker and it was a concern for them. So I have now found myself here yet again.
First-time dog owners would most likely not be a good fit for me. I have my flaws and quirks, as all dogs do, but mine do require a little more extra effort and patience to work through. I am so so smart and eager to learn, which is why I would be a perfect fit for someone who is willing to train and work with me to be the best dog I can be! I love going on hikes and exploring my surroundings, and I am a great walker once I get into a groove! I do have some resource guarding tendencies with high-value treats and bones, but as long as you give me my space while I eat, it is something that is easily managed! Because of my history with this, I need to be in a kid and animal-free household.
My ideal home? Quiet, experienced, patient, and looking for an absolute best friend. I can promise you that I will be your protector, confidant, cuddle buddy! I really need to find my forever home - this shelter life is not for me! Are you willing and able to take me home and work on this "project dog"? I promise I will give you all the love in return!

Animals that are applied for must be adopted the same day or within 24 hours of the animal being placed on the adoption application. Exceptions will be made if any animal needs a medical procedure, but then will need to be adopted within 24 hours of being cleared from that procedure. HSSC reserves the right to accommodate alternate timelines for special needs/behavioral issue animals.
It is the potential adopter's responsibility to communicate with their landlord to contact HSSC for approval or to provide documentation stating permission within 24 hours of application submission.
It is also the potential adopter's responsibility to produce a current rabies certificate for their current dog(s) to conduct a dog to dog meet and greet within 24 hours of application submission.
