My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hola! My name is MACI and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Shepherd/Lab Mix (best guess really!)

  • Age: approx. 4 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 35 lbs (16kgs)

  • Height: 60 cm (paws to top of my head)

  • Length: 75 cm (head to butt)

  • Neck Circumference: 35 cm

  • Current Location: MEXICO CITY

RESCUE STORY - I was found begging for food on the side of a highway between Mexico City and the city of Puebla. I was extremely skinny and malnourished; my rescuers could tell I had spent a lot of time on the street. I also showed signs of having recently had puppies, but sadly my puppies were nowhere to be found. Despite my deteriorated physical state, I didn’t show any signs of fear or aggression. I was taken to the vet where I was always calm and friendly, which made it easier for them to give me an extensive check-up.  I have been living at a doggie pension since August 2023. I am very well taken care of here (we even have a dog behaviorist who helps assess and socialize all of us rescue pups!), but I am SO ready to go to my forever home!

TEMPERAMENT - I am a very social gal who loves other dogs and people!! I'm friendly from the get-go, not nervous or scared of new people or places. I'm highly adaptable, very affectionate, and LOVE human attention. I love going for long walks but I also just enjoy laying in the sunshine and napping (what girl wouldn't!) I am such a wonderful doggo who is so deserving of a loving home.

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I play hard and crash hard. I'm the perfect combo of adventure and chill- once I've had some exercise I am more than happy to snooze and cuddle!

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Unknown.

  • Dogs –  Yes! I am living at a doggy pension where I have lots of daily exposure to other dogs. When wrestling with my doggy friends, I am not remotely aggressive however I can be a bit "nippy" in my play style. I will do extra well with playmates who match my energy.

  • Cats – Unknown.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – Pretty good! You can see in my video that I am a pretty good little walker and I love to get out on my leash! I pull a bit but am not reactive towards cars of people passing by. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help continue my success!

  • House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

  • In August of 2024, I presented secretions from my mammary glands. The vet performed an abdominal ultrasound and found cysts in my ovaries, so I was spayed.  I am now healthy, fully vaccinated, dewormed and have no known health issues!

  • I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North.

NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 (including GST & PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.

WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.
