Meet Grizzly, the adorable little bear cub look-alike with a heart full of love and a spirit full of joy! This happy-go-lucky pup is the definition of sweetness—always ready to cuddle and shower his humans with affection. Grizzly has the name of a tough bear, but his easygoing, gentle nature will melt anyone`s heart.

Athletic and agile, Grizzly loves to jump on obstacles, showing off his playful side . Whether it`s climbing, sniffing, or going on a walk, this little adventurer is always up for some fun with friends. But no matter how much energy he expends, his favorite thing in the world is curling up next to you for some quality cuddle time.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
