Montana is a young, handsome pit mix just under 2 years old. He will need further vetting to explore options for his eye. He seems to have a some type of growth (dermoid?) on his cornea. Behind the growth, it appears to be his normal eye. Of course, that’s for a specialist to determine. We know this can’t be very comfortable for him, and we would love for him to be onto his next journey!
He has really settled in since arriving at the shelter in terms of walking better on the leash and not being so jumpy. Montana knows basic commands and is super food motivated. This boy is happy all the time and is always tails wags and butt wiggles. He seeks attention and loves to be pet. He passed all temperament tests. He is dog friendly but overly excitable so would need a perfect match and a home that will take their time to acclimate the dogs.
Montana would do best in an active home that has time to develop his training. We can assist as needed. He is very smart and eager to learn and please. His love of food will definitely help speed things along. Kids 15 and older as he needs to learn manners with taking treats and playing with toys. He can be overly grabby but with someone patient, he will thrive. He ignored cats during his test simply because he was more excited to seek the attention of his handler. He is microchipped, UTD on vaccines and neutered.
Most likely he will need surgery and a home will be needed for recovery. He’s one of the longest residents and needs a second chance at a better life.

More about this rescue
Pitties and Pals Rescue, Inc. is (a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit). Our mission is to rescue dogs and educate the public. Although our main focus is the bully breed, we are committed to all dogs in need. We believe RESCUE involves a multitude of approaches that includes liberating dogs from at risk situations, whether in a shelter or with an owner in need of assistance. While adoption is always the ultimate goal, we believe transitioning into foster care allows for socialization and training that are key components to a successful placement.
Pitties and Pals volunteers are also committed to changing the negative public perception of the Bully Breed. As such, we welcome opportunities to heighten awareness and enhance education in a public forum through our personal stories and positive experiences.
