My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on October 19, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Chato, a cute and social pup with lots of love to give! While he's friendly with other dogs, Chato is reactive towards them, barking and lunging in their presence. He'll need a family who can manage this behavior and who's ready to provide training for these moments. Chato hasn't met cats or kids yet, so we recommend bringing along any children who live in the house when you come for a meet & greet. This guy is super athletic! Ever wanted to try out dog sports like agility, flyball or dock diving? Chato would absolutely love this! He is a big fan of treats and tennis balls too. If you'd like to take this beautiful boy home, visit him today-remember to bring a leash and collar to ensure his safe journey home.

At SDHS:
Chato has been vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.

Dog Reactive Dog:  This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
