My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wednesday! She is a lovely little lady but a wee bit shy. She has had a rough start to life and knows nothing of a home full of love, treats, toys, warmth and comfort.

Wednesday requires a quiet home with a patient person who is willing to go at the pace she sets. In time she will learn to trust her person and understand a life that she never knew possible. She will be forever grateful to you and your kind heart.

However, in the last few days Wednesday has really opened up and it turns out she is pretty keen on pats and lots of attention. She tends to spook easily, but all in all she is starting to come into her own. She's a sweetheart.

If you are looking for a life partner in the form of a little black cat, then perhaps Wednesday is who you are looking for.

For adoption applications:

1. Submit an online application and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit. Kindly note that due to the high number of applications, we will only be contacting suitable potential adopters to further review their interest.

OR

2. Visit the Surrey BC SPCA at 16748 50 Ave, to meet Wednesday to learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person.

If you are invited to meet Wednesday please come prepared with a cat carrier as we do same-day adoptions if the meet goes well. We recommend being prepared with a litter bin, litter, food and water dishes, and toys before bringing your new family member home.

More about this shelter

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
