My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Juliet is currently in foster, here is what her foster family has to say about her:

Juliet is a beautiful, intelligent, and playful dog who has blossomed remarkably since arriving in her foster home. Initially a bit shy and downcast in the shelter, she's shown herself to be full of charm and joy, warming up quickly to become friendly, social, and full of happy energy. While Juliet has plenty of enthusiasm for life and loves a good run or play session, she also knows how to wind down and enjoy a mellow cuddle. Her curiosity shines around other animals too; she's eager to meet other dogs on walks, and she's fascinated by the family cat, even sharing a nose-touch through a baby gate. Juliet also enjoys time with children, especially her foster family's 9-year-old grandson, with whom she plays enthusiastically. She responds well to redirection, and we think she'd thrive in a family with children over six, who would make for great playmates.

On walks, Juliet is calm on the leash in urban settings, but new experiences like waves in Puget Sound catch her off guard. She gets excited in more rural areas, like Poulsbo Fish Park, where she tends to pull on the leash. At home, Juliet has free roam, and she's happy being alone for short periods, whether inside or in the fenced yard. She's very well house-trained, choosing a spot in the yard far from the house to keep things tidy. Her ideal family would be one with active adults and possibly kids or other pets, who can provide her with the love and guidance she craves. With her smarts and love of treats, she picks up commands like "Sit" and "Stay" quickly, and her new family will enjoy working with her to perfect her skills and leash manners. For a younger family, Juliet promises to be a loyal, lively, and affectionate companion.

Juliet would do best in a home with:
-Children over 6

More about this shelter

Kitsap Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal shelter. We rescue and rehome over 6000 pets each year. Every dog or cat leaves our shelter spayed or neutered and with complete vaccines and a microchip. We have been caring for animals in need since 1908 and envision a time when all adoptable pets have loving homes.

We are extremely proud of our exceptionally high “lives saved” rate of over 96%. Through our active adoption, behavior, foster, transfer, and veterinary programs, we are able to rehome every adoptable animal that enters our facility. No animal is ever euthanized for lack of space.

In addition to caring for and adopting animals, we also provide spay/neuter services to low income residents of Kitsap County, and provide Animal Rescue and Enforcement services to our surrounding municipalities.
