My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 4 months old

Gender: Male

Breed: Shepard Mix

Weight: 26 lbs

Personality: Squid and his siblings were found living in a hole in Mexico where they were rescued. He is a playful, funny puppy - full of personality. Squid loves being around other dogs and thrives in their company, adding his own charm to the mix. While he experiences a bit of separation anxiety when first crated, he quickly settles after a few minutes. Sweet, smart, and a true stress-reliever, Squid is an ideal companion for anyone seeking laughter and affection.

Education: Working on bathroom/crate training. Not fully vaccinated yet. Will need puppy lessons.

Favorite Activities: Loves to chew toys and play with other dogs

Looking for: A loving home with someone who will be committed to raising a puppy. He would thrive in a home with another dog, as he enjoys watching and mimicking their behavior.

Adoption Fee: $ 500

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
