My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Please contact info@petadoptionservices.org for more information about this pet.

Willa Jean came to us from our local shelter as an unclaimed stray. She has a scar across the top of her muzzle of uncertain origin, but it appears to be either some type of burn or possibly due to a tether of some sort. We don't know what Willa Jean's past life experiences were, but her foster parents are doing there best to make sure that present and future hold nothing but the good stuff. And, we have assured Willa that her forever family will see her beauty beyond any scars.

Willa was also not provided regular vet care and monthly heartworm prevention in her previous environment, and has tested positive for heartworms. However, her treatment is included in her adoption fee.

Willa is now current on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped.

Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish).

** Local adoptions (within Greater New Orleans area and surrounding parishes). We do not ship animals, as a part of our adoption process is for the potential adopter(s) to meet the dog to assess if he/she is a match for the family.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The average adoption fee for dogs is $150, though some adoption fees may be occasionally lower or a bit higher. All animals offered for adoption are spayed or neutered, heartworm negative or undergoing treatment, up to date on vaccinations, treated for intestinal parasites, and microchipped. In addition to completing an adoption contract, potential adopters should be prepared to agree to a veterinarian reference check and home visit. A valid drivers license or state I.D. card is required. This simple yet thorough screening process allows us to place the right animal in your committed, loving home.

Go meet their pets

Because each of our rescues lives in the home of one of our fosterparents, arrangements will be made for the adopter to meet the pet in which they are interested. Also, PAS holds a monthly adoption day at the Petsmart on Veterans Blvd in Metairie.

More about this rescue

Pet Adoption Services, Inc. is a non-profit all breed cat and dog rescue organization in New Orleans. Supported by over 20 volunteer members, Pet Adoption Services was founded in 1996, although some of our members have been involved in rescue for over 20 years. Our mission is to secure loving permanent homes for homeless, abandoned or abused cats and dogs of all breeds. While awaiting adoption, our animals live in the homes of one of our foster parents. During this time the animals receive any necessary veterinary care, including but not limited to, vaccinations, spaying or neutering and heartworm treatment. Our experienced foster parents continually assess each pet's personality and temperament allowing us to place adoptable cats and dogs in just the right permanent home. Pet Adoption Services participates in adoption days during which time, potential adopters get the opportunity to meet and spend time with the animals in a "real life" situation.
