Here's what the humans have to say about me:
NOTE: SITKA IS WITH HIS RESCUER IN SACRAMENTO. GSRSV MET SITKA AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH HIS TEMPERAMENT. WE ARE LISTING SITKA ALONG WITH OUR OWN DOGS ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HIM MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE SEE BOTTOM OF THIS PROFILE FOR CONTACT INFO.
UPDATE 11-2-24: SITKA IS NOW NEUTERED, FULLY VACCINATED & HEARTWORM-TESTED!
"Sitka" is a handsome, approx 70-lb, 3-4-yo neutered male GSD who is sweet, obedient and mellow. Sitka is healthy and will be up-to-date on core vaccinations prior to adoption.
Sitka is a real love bug. He craves affection and loves to snuggle! He is good with strangers and will likely be great with children as he is calm and gentle for the most part.
Sitka gets along great other dogs. He visited GSRSV's Rescue Ranch on Oct 27, where he interacted with several dogs, both male & female, and was friendly with all of them. He didn't even object when one of them barged into the car he came in upon arrival! See elsewhere on this page for a video of Sitka interacting with the other dogs.
Sitka could very well be fine with cats, though he’ll need further assessment here. He did see a cat through a glass door, and all he did was whine and paw at the door; no barking or aggression displayed.
Sitka appears to be housetrained, as he has spent some time indoors with no accidents. At his current residence in Sacramento, he is primarily kept outdoors in a screened in patio.
Sitka has clearly received some basic obedience training. He walks easy on leash and obeys the commands “sit”,”stay”, and sometimes “lie down.”
Sitka enjoys playing fetch and chewing on his bone. He also sits quietly when riding in vehicles.
Sitka was left behind by his owner when she became ill. A woman named Ann came across Sitka and took him in to keep him from going to the animal shelter. She is unable to keep him much longer due to health issues so his need for a new home is fairly urgent.
Sitka is located in Sacramento. His adoption fee is $100. Please contact Ann at 916-628-8204.

GSRSV became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization in March 2013. All donations to GSRSV are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Since February 2001, Brian Foran has funded GSRSV primarily on his own. Donations have played--and continue to play--a huge part in keeping GSRSV afloat, as adoption fees are a drop-in-the-bucket compared with the costs of running a large rescue program.
To make a monetary donation, please go to the donation page on GSRSV's Website: www.gsrsv.org/DonationsNeeded.htm.
Thanks for your support!

Because I am an independent rescuer caring for many dogs, I am presently unable to conduct regular adoption or "meet & greet" events.
I only arrange for people to meet the dogs that I have available for adoption after I have discussed the dog and have received an adoption questionnaire from them.

More about this rescue
German Shepherd Rescue of Sacramento Valley (GSRSV) is an organization dedicated to finding good homes for German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) at risk of being placed in shelters, or who are already in shelters and possibly facing euthanasia. GSRSV is an independent rescue organization operated by one individual: Brian Foran. Though countless volunteers and benefactors have supported--and continue to support--GSRSV, I run and primarily fund the program, as I have since February 2001.
