My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there, future best friend! I’m Miko, the cat with a paw-sitively unique personality and a flair for the dramatic. If you’re looking for a playful and sweet companion who keeps things interesting, you’ve just hit the jackpot! I’ll be upfront, though—I’m not your average lap cat. I’m more like a fine work of art: intriguing, a little complex, and best appreciated by someone with patience and a keen eye for brilliance.

Here’s the thing—like a true artist, I can get over-stimulated when there’s too much going on or when things don’t quite go my way. Think of me as a feline who needs clear boundaries and a calm environment to feel my best. When life gets too noisy, I might need a little space to decompress. But don’t worry—I’m not a diva; I just know what I like (and what I don’t)!

When I’m in my zone, though? Oh, I’m a total joy! Toys that crinkle, feathers that flutter, and laser pointers that zoom—I’m a purr-fessional entertainer. I’ll put on a show you’ll never forget, leaping and pouncing with the grace of a cat gymnast. I love to play, and those moments of joy are when my sweet side shines brightest. You’ll see my playful spirit light up like a sparkler, and you won’t be able to resist smiling.

What I need most is an owner who understands that good things come to those who wait. Someone who can give me the time and space to trust, love, and show my full personality. When I feel safe and understood, I’ll reward you with my loyalty, my quirky antics, and those heart-melting purrs.

I’ll thrive in a home where I can set the pace, so if you’ve got a calm vibe and a little extra patience, we’re going to be the cat’s meow. No loud parties or chaotic energy for me—just a quiet space where I can truly shine.

So, are you ready to let Miko steal your heart? I might take some time to settle in, but once I do, you’ll realize I’m worth every ounce of patience. Adopt me, and let’s create a life together that’s playful, sweet, and purr-fectly unique!

More about this shelter

The Animal Defense League was established in 1934 by a group of individuals, “for the prevention of cruelty to animals; to promote kind and humane treatment of animals; and to aid and assist the enforcement of laws enacted for the prevention of animal cruelty.”

In 1961, ADL moved to its present location in the easily accessible northeast part of San Antonio. Its campus encompasses more than 12 acres and includes a two-acre pet park. On the property is an Adoption Center with a small retail store, and a separate 5,000 square-foot Clinic which houses our veterinary hospital that provides onsite spay/neuter surgery, surgery for injured and ill animals, and ongoing medical care for all ADL resident animals.
