My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petunia is as sweet as she sounds! Petunia is a big and beautiful lady who blossoms around people. She loves to explore and hops around the room seeing everything that life has to offer. She is great with being handled and picked up when needed, and she does not mind being brushed which is essential for who ever her new parents will be to keep up with keeping her gorgeous locks smooth and tangle free.

Petunia was one of seven rabbits that were surrendered, who unfortunately were not given the care that they needed. Her beautiful coat is now being brushed out, and she is getting regular trims to grow out some of the tangles and mats that had accumulated over the years. Angoras are beautiful, and require the right amount of time and pampering to keep their fur healthy and well.

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
