TOT NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Tot Best Guess for Breed: Hound mix, some foxhound maybe
Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of October 2024 Gender: Male
Approximate Weight: 37 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested if you have them.
Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to escape after completing heartworm treatment.
Special Adoption Considerations: Tot is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Tot is Looking For: His forever home! He ended up in the shelter through no fault of his own but has closed that chapter and is eagerly looking ahead to his new one. The one where he gets All. The. Smells. This boy is young, his body is strong, and his sniffer is stronger. Lots of long sniffy walks, romps, and all the adventures his humans can dream up - he's up for it all!
Most of all, though, he wants to be safe and loved and under his own roof. Look at those awwww-inducing eyes. Can you see yourself waking up to that face every day for many days to come? Can you see Tot trotting by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
