My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet adoptable Fanny!

Just one look into this girl's eyes is all it takes to fall in love. Her soulful gaze tells a story of resilience, gratitude, and wisdom well beyond her young age.

Although Fanny is only about 10 months old, she had a difficult start to life on the streets of Mexico. She was the victim of abuse by a homeless man who lived around the railroad tracks in Guadalajara city. He kept Fanny as his "pet" on the side of the railway and was seen abusing her on a daily basis. When our rescue partners became aware of Fanny's situation, they knew she could not endure this physical harm much longer. They took Fanny into their care and she received immediate medical attention at the veterinary hospital.

During her recovery time, Fanny won the hearts of everyone with her loving and trusting spirit. Despite the pain she endured, her faith in people was remarkable. She was full of affection, kisses, and appreciation for every bit of love she was given. She came out the other side not only physically healed, but emotionally healed as well.

Fanny now lives with a loving foster family in Guadalajara, awaiting her forever home. She is up to a healthy weight of 46 lbs. Although her exact breed is unknown, she resembles a unique mix of the Catahoula Leopard dog and Pit Bull terrier with a beautiful brindle coat and striking markings.

We saw immediately that Fanny gets along wonderfully with people - both adults and kids. But we also saw her good nature with other dogs. She interacts very well with dogs, matching their energy and reading their cues. Currently, Fanny lives with multiple doggy siblings at her foster home and shares the space perfectly with them. She has never shown any type of aggression or resource guarding behaviour.

Fanny does not have experience with cats, so we cannot be 100% sure how she'd interact with them.

Living in a home environment, Fanny is now accustomed to the routines of a household. She is well mannered and abides by the rules of her home. She is also house trained, using a doggy door to let herself out when she needs to do her business. On leash, she is very comfortable and walks nicely at your pace. She's an intelligent dog who picked up these skills quickly and will be an ideal candidate for further obedience training.

One of Fanny's most endearing traits is her calm, balanced temperament. Even though she's still a pup, she is not "hyper" or rambunctious. She presents as quite mature for her age, radiating wisdom and gentle kindness. Fanny loves affection from her humans. She is remarkably friendly with everyone she meets and enjoys social interactions.

Fanny's energy level goes with the flow of her people. She loves daily walks and is always open to fun adventures as she's a young, vibrant dog. She will happily join in all kinds of outdoor activities with her family. At the same time, she likes her relaxation time, curling up on her fluffy blanket or snuggling up beside you on the couch. At night, she sleeps on her favourite blanket in the main living area of the house, along with her canine friends.

Fanny is truly one of the sweetest dogs you'll meet. She will make an ideal companion for someone who is looking for a well-balanced, friendly, moderate energy pup. She would also be a fantastic second dog. Whether it's outdoor activity, playtime, or a quiet evening at home, Fanny will be your perfect sidekick. Despite a rough start to life, Fanny has blossomed into a well-rounded dog, full of gratitude and love.
