My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Foghorn is a zebra finch looking a new home. Zebra finches are highly social birds who require the companionship of their species to thrive. This little one was surrendered with several other finches and would love to go home with some buddies. These cheerful little birds are well known for their "beeps" and chatter and will joyfully fill the silence. Due to their small size and difficulty bonding with people, zebra finches face some extra dangers if allowing out of cage time. That's why finches usually require a large flight cage with plenty of room for the whole flock to move around. In the wild, finches tend to hop from branch to branch foraging, so they do best in a long cage with plenty of perches. If you'd like to bring home some friends to enliven your home with song and chatter, then come meet our finches today!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
