My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Colt is a gentle, affectionate dog with a heart full of love to give. He thrives on human interaction and never misses an opportunity to cuddle up next to someone for pets and belly rubs. Whether you're relaxing on the couch or enjoying time outdoors, Colt will be by your side, eagerly wagging his tail and leaning in for affection. His sweet, soulful eyes reflect his kind nature, making it impossible not to fall in love with him at first sight.

With a calm demeanor and a friendly spirit, Colt is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal, loving dog. He gets along well with people of all ages and has a special gift for making everyone around him feel cherished. Colt's idea of a perfect day involves plenty of pets, scratches behind the ears, and time spent with his favorite people. His easygoing nature makes him a joy to be around, and he's ready to fill his forever home with love, warmth, and tail wags.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
