SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Edmond is a lovely dog! Not only is he adorable, but he is super sweet and very playful. He came to us recently from a southern NC shelter partner after being found as a stray. He had a horrible case of flea infestation which caused him to chew and stratch the fur off much of his back end. With the fleas now gone, his hair is growing back in nicely and he is once again comfortable. Fully grown at just over 15 pounds, he is a perfect size for most homes! He loves people and other small dogs and is a happy companion. Edmond appears to be in good health. He has begun receiving vaccines and he will be neutered and microchipped in mid-November. Until that time he is only available for local adoption in the Richmond, VA area. Once his neuter is complete, we can consider out of town adoptions. We are seeking a home with an active adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with this precious dog! A home without larger pets and with a fenced, secure yard will provide a safe opportunity for play and bathroom breaks without risk of injury to him. Edmond is not well suited to small children who could be upset by his enthusiasm, but will fit nicely into many other homes.

Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Edmond and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Edmond at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
