Louise is a cute 8-month old female (possible) Catahoula Leopard Dog/Beagle mix who was brought to the HSOV on October 19, 2024 along with her best friend/sister (Thelma) after they were found on Gilman Avenue in Marietta Ohio. Neither of the girls were wearing a collar.
True to their namesakes, this lovely pair must have been on an adventure, so we were relieved that a Good Samaritan brought them to the safely of our shelter and that they out of harm's way since there is always a high volume of traffic in Marietta on a Saturday afternoon.
Louise has a beautiful black/brown/beige/cream coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with sky blue eyes, a long slender muzzle, and large floppy ears.
Louise and Thelma have affectionate, fun-loving personalities. Thanks to HSOV Kennel Techs Emily Beaver and Lauryn Hamilton for accompanying them for photos soon after their arrival.
Louise weighs 26.2 lbs. She was a little unsure about walking on a leash, but within a few minutes she was doing very well thanks to some 'on-the-scene' training from Emily.
These girls wanted to be as close to each other as possible during their photo session, and they are currently sharing a small room just off the shelter lobby. They would love to find a home together.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Louise and Thelma were held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for these beautiful older puppies.
Thelma and Louise went home with a foster family on October 26, 2024 who planned to adopt them after they were spayed ... But changed their mind and the girls were returned to HSOV on October 30th. Thelma and Louise were higher energy than anticipated and exhibited usual puppy behavior (chewing and were not yet housetrained).
