Meet Nucita!
I deeply admire the compassion our rescuer’s show the neglected, abandoned, or abused animals they find in the islands. They face the intense emotions and challenges I only hear about from afar. Rescuers truly make the difference between life and death.
I met Nucita in Puerto Rico last September, and she stood out among the many dozens of dogs I encountered. Nucita had been hit by a car and left for dead on the side of the road for days when our rescuers found her. She was unable to walk and they assumed she would need surgery. Sometimes there are animals you have to be in the presence of to fully understand how special they are. She's such a gentle, loving soul. Nucita has a calming presence that is hard to describe but deeply felt. Miraculously, while I was visiting, she started to walk again.
Now, after a long recovery, Nucita is ready for her forever home. At about 3 years old and 38 lbs, she’s a loving girl who does best with older kids (8+ years). She would love a home where she can cuddle up on the couch as a part of the family. Nucita is house trained and has nearly perfect house manners. She has full reign of the kitchen when we're not home and there have been no issues (no destructive behavior, counter surfing, etc). Nucita is friendly with other dogs, spayed, vaccinated, and social. She needs a loving home. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting her, please complete our application.
