Here's what the humans have to say about me:
PLEASE NOTE BREED, AGE AND WEIGHT AT MATURITY ARE OUR BEST GUESS!
Posted September 8th. Meet Buddy, a funny, sweet, good looking guy that just hasn't grown into those long legs of his yet. We think Buddy is around 6 months old, and still underweight at 55-60 pounds. He has a fabulous temperament, and is waiting for you to bring him home for the rest of his life.
This is Buddy's story. Buddy arrived on transport from Southern Illinois with dozens of other dogs. When I looked in the crate to say hello, I saw this beautiful, sweet, shiny black dog, emaciated and covered in fly bites. Then, this very gentle soul walked out of his crate...who we now call Buddy... he slowly walked up to me and very, very gently placed these huge paws on my shoulders and hugged me. We stood there very still while he hugged me and I could swear he whispered in my ears...thank you over and over. Buddy had me at Hello!
Buddy arrived weighing only 35 pounds with kennel cough, fleas, girardia and the fur on and around his ears where scabbed up from being kept outside and the flies eating him up. Within a week he was at 50 pounds with a beautiful coat of fur, running and playing like a healthy young puppy should. It's wonderful to see the physical transformation. Fortunately he didn't need any personality transformation because he is just perfect the way he came in. Buddy didn't let anything dampen his spirit, but you can see he is very grateful to be able to be a puppy at last, and he cherishes every moment of his new life.
Buddy has now gone to a wonderful foster home where he is getting one-on-one love and being treated like a king... he deserves it. Buddy is an absolute dream dog. He is not a crazy typical lab pup. He is very smart and learns quickly. His foster mom says he does not beg for food, but lies on the floor at her feet while they eat dinner. She has been grooming him to make sure he is used to people touching his paws, tail, ears etc. Buddy has discovered that part of being a puppy is getting toys and he loves them all. You can give him a basket of toys and he will carry them out one by one like he never saw Christmas. He loves to play ball. He does well on a leash, and absolutely loves the water. Adopter bewares...do not turn on the hose in front of him if you don't want to get wet. Buddy is not an Alpha dog and he does not mark. He is not fully housebroken, but is doing wonderfully. He is crate trained, but is allowed to have free run of the house.
Buddy was in my care for about a week and was wonderful with the kids, cats and dogs. He never showed any signs of food, bowl, toy, or bone aggression. He could care less about the cats, loved playing with all of the dogs, ate from the same bowl as all of the dogs and had no problems when we took away toys or bones from him.
Buddy's adoption fee is $250.00 and includes his neutering (already done), rabies vaccinated, micro chipped, vaccinated for DA2PPV Vaccination, heartworm tested negative, dewormed, treated with revolution for the prevention of fleas, mites and heartworm, along with any other medical needs, a free 30 minute with a certified trainer at Petco, and a free new pet exam office visit with Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic On Weber and Caton farm Road. Buddy's perfect home MUST HAVE A FENCED IN BACK YARD.
We are a foster based rescue, which means all of our animals are cared for by volunteers who have offered to open their home to help care for our animals until a forever family can be found. SO, only approved applications will get viewing appointments. This is so our dedicated foster homes do not have a revolving door of people. Thank you in advance for understanding our adoption process.
You can download an application by going to angelsonwheelsanimalrescue.com or email sspratl@gmail.com and we will be happy to email you one. Thank you for viewing our rescued animals and for your patience and understanding.
