Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.
Located in Troy, MO
Cabernet is a smart, funny, and sometimes clumsy pup!
He is such a good boy, very well behaved and well mannered. He walks well on a leash, loves car rides, and happy to make new friends of both the 2 and 4 legged variety!
Cabernet came into rescue with some very matted fur, with many wounds. He was on several rounds of antibiotics and it seemed new wounds would show up frequently. So we had his DNA tested to determine if there was some underlying reason for all these wounds and everything came back negative. We then had a skin biopsy done and the results show Cabernet is suspected to have a form of Ehler-Danlos syndrome. He just has sensitive skin that can tear easily, so groomers need to be extra careful. Parents also need to be diligent about watching for new wounds and seek vet attention if a wound appears. What would be a superficial scratch for a normal dog, could be a big gash for him.
Cabernet is a happy guy, despite his not so good start in life. He is great with other dogs both bigger and smaller than him. He gets lots of attention when foster mom takes him places and people always comment on how cute and well behaved he is.
Cabernet will need frequent and gentle brushing and routine (every 4-6 weeks) grooming. He is an active dog and would do best with a family that is also active. His coat should be kept short to minimize pulling on his hair.
Cabernet's adoption is $500. He is current on vaccines, microchipped and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Cabernet has been neutered. Visit leiashope.org for next steps.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing.
All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application.
We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet.
Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!
