My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Velvet is a clever and curious rabbit who is looking for her forever home. She spends most of her day munching on her favorite greens such as kale and romaine lettuce, and her nights are spent rearranging her x-pen just how she likes it. She MUST have her shark tunnel in just the right spot. She loves to dart in and out of it, displaying her playful nature.

Velvet is also very brave and not afraid to explore new territories. She can be a bit shy at first, but give her time (and some banana and barley treats) and she'll warm up to you in no time!

Could you be Velvet's person?

* PLEASE READ *

Note: Rabbits are very active animals that require space to hop around; x-pens or even a full rabbit room would be great! Please do your research to ensure your lifestyle is compatible with the needs of a rabbit.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
