My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beardgrass came into our care along with a few housemates.
This young 3 year old was pretty shy when he arrived, but has come a long way and is settling in.
Beardgrass looks a little rough around the edges at this time as we feel this just adds to his charm.
This chunky cheeked boy loves nothing more than to lie around and lean into cheek rubs, purring and kneading his paws. Beardgrass is very food motivated and is always waiting eagerly in the morning for his breakfast.

A quiet home would be best suited for BG as he still shows signs of being spooked; it doesn't take long for him to warm up though and ask for love.

Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
