My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks

Date into Rescue: 08/13/2024
Reason for being in rescue: owner surrender
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Gabriella is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Gabriella is a doodle. We will never guarantee that a doodle is hypoallergenic or that they will not shed.
Weight: 47 lbs
Height: 24 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $599

Fence needed? No, Gabriella can scale any fence.

What kind of home would be best for me?  Gabriella needs someone she can trust. She has had other friends and platonic relationships, and this time she’s looking for the real thing. She desires someone who is willing to be patient with her, yet push her to be her best. She also needs owners who are experienced and understand the importance of helping her get the socialization and love she deserves. Gabriella is a sweet dog who just needs time and space to open up. She is still very young and desires someone who will be patient with her. She would benefit mostly in a home with owners who are home often and can give her lots of mental stimulation, reassurance and love.

Gabriella also needs another large breed, confident dog in the home who isn’t going to pester her, but instead help her build confidence. She is selective with dogs sometimes, but mostly due to lack of socialization. She also doesn’t mind cats that are considerate!  With the right support and structure, she will learn to adapt to new environments, faces, and other dogs more easily than she currently does in the rescue.

What is my personality like? This stunning girl is Gabriella! She is a beautiful chocolate brown Old English Sheep Dog/Poodle Mix. Gabriella was an owner surrender along with her 9 adorable puppies. Yes, we said 9! She is adorable and bright-eyed, but she is also quite shy and hesitant. Our sweet girl has had very little experience in life. She is extremely timid and weary of strangers, but in despite of it all she dreams of a true companion that she can confide in.

Gabriella is extremely intelligent and fearless as well. She has learned out to fetch a ball and drop it on command. She is highly trainable with high value on toys and treats as rewards. It is important to know that Gabriella should not be left unattended in a fenced in yard. She is very agile and can quickly scale them. This means she will either need to be supervised when going into a fenced in area or she will need to be leashed/harnessed when outside. She does not like being left alone and will destruct things out of fear and anxiety that you may not return. She is mostly crate trained and makes minimal messes! Her crate is her safe space when she is unsupervised or left alone.

Gabriella is a sweet girl who just needs time and space to open up. She is still very young and desires someone who will be patient with her. A home that can provide mental stimulation, reassurance, and love will help her flourish.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Gabriella tends to be wary, shy, and timid around new people as she learns to navigate the world after her life as a breeding dog. Adopters should be patient and kind, allowing her to adjust at her own pace.

Other tips and tidbits: Gabriella was born on 04/07/2023.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
