Introducing Hickory, a distinguished orange guy who arrived with a feral colony on which we did Trap-Neuter-Return. Unlike the true ferals in the rest of the colony, Hickory LOVES all the people and animals he meets. He's good with dogs, other cats, and kids, and brimming over with affection for anyone who takes time to visit with him.
Unfortunately, Hickory's time trying to survive within the colony left him with a FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) infection, for which there is no cure. The good news is, he does NOT have FeLV (Feline Leukemia).
FIV is spread via deep bite wounds, so Hickory should live indoors to avoid any confrontations with roaming outdoor cats in his neighborhood. He should be able to live safely without infecting other cats in the family, as long as they get along and do not fight. For more information about living with an FIV+ cat, see
This big, cuddly love-bug will be so happy to have a warm lap for the winter.
All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Hickory is a suggested minimum of $40 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.
Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
