More about this shelter

The Headwaters Animal Shelter, located in Park Rapids Minnesota, is a non-profit 501c(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for abandoned, surrendered, neglected, abused and stray animals. We do not receive funding from any federal, state or national humane agencies. We rely almost 100% on donations, fund raising events and generosity of our community to fund the expenses associated with operating the Shelter.

To name just a few of our fund raising events, we have an annual auction, raffle items, plant sales, food booths, and rummage sales. We are always looking for ways to promote and raise awareness of our animal shelter while at the same time help raise funds to support it.

Since opening our brand new facility in April 2003, on average we service around 450+ animals every year! A lot of those animals would have been left homeless, killed or be neglected if not for our service. In August 2004 we have implemented 100% pre-adoption spay and neuter Program. All animals since August 2004 that leave the shelter will be spayed or neutered!

Our members and volunteers provide us with the helping hands we need to care for the animals, and to help raise funding and awareness of our needs and mission. On behalf of the animals, we thank you for your support and invite you to visit us often at www.headwatersanimalshelter.org!
