My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Paloma, a stunning and intelligent adult Cattle Dog/Collie mix with the athleticism and independence to match her beauty! This girl is the definition of a strong, confident lady, and she’s always ready for an adventure—whether it’s a game of fetch with her larger, playmate pals or a good ol’ squirrel-chasing session in the yard.

Paloma’s a dream when it comes to house and crate training. She’s well-mannered in the home, although she’ll need to learn the specific rules of her forever family. She’s got no problem sharing a blankie and snuggling up in bed—she’s a quiet, respectful bed buddy who loves being close to her humans, but never takes over the space (she's too polite for that!).

Car rides? Absolutely! And when she’s not on the road, you’ll often find Paloma perched at the highest point of the yard, keeping an eye out for any squirrels or cats that might be testing her boundary patrol skills. No one gets past her watchful gaze!

Paloma’s ideal home would be with someone who can make her feel special—she’s a one-and-only type of gal, and she thrives on that close bond. She’s fine with a crate when necessary, but she prefers the company of her people. Expect her to be a devoted, loyal companion who will love you with all her heart.

If you're looking for a smart, strong, and playful girl with a heart full of love to give, Paloma might just be the perfect match!

She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. If you are interested in learning more about Paloma, please text Liz at 214-616-6128.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do our best to match up potential adopters with just the right pet as we want to ensure a lifelong placement for the rescued animal. Our adoption process includes an initial application, with home visit, reference and vet checks. If the match is a good one, we then have an adoption contract that is executed. We have a commitment not only to our adopted dogs, but also to the families that adopt them, and we are always available to help with the transition to a new home. We check in during the first few weeks to answer any questions or help with any issues - or to just give you someone to brag to about your new baby. We can't hear that too much!

More about this rescue

Shelter2Rescue Coalition is an all-volunteer rescue organization dedicated to the safe-rehoming of shelter animals. We started as a rescue facilitation organization, helping rural shelters publicize their at-risk dogs, thereby dramatically reducing the need to euthanize for space. Then, as we worked with more shelters, it became very apparent that if we could just buy the dogs up for euthanasia just a little more time, you could save even more lives. The 72-hour hold limit at most shelters just wasn't enough for most dogs to get out. Therefore, we expanded and built partnerships with boarding facilities, transport organizations and other nationwide rescues in order to be able to provide a temporary safe haven for dogs out of time. We have now expanded Shelter2Rescue Coalition to include our own adoption program. Since June 2007, through facilitation and adoption, Shelter2Rescue Coalition volunteers have saved over 2000 dogs and cats.
