My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Born 5/14/22, Skippy is a male Schnauzer mix. His groomer says she sees a bit of poodle in there as well! His is a 15 pound, playful, affectionate and happy pup. He loves people, and gets along well with the other same sized dogs in his foster home, but he can get bossy at times. He also co-exists well with cats. Skippy’s foster mom says that he considers himself an “amateur entomologist” and even beetles are not safe from his curiosity! Skippy is very smart and walks well on a leash. He’s eager to learn and would highly benefit from training and to build his confidence. He will bark at strangers (humans and dogs) but settles down quickly. He loves playing fetch and chasing a ball. Skippy still has some puppy mischievousness and has been known to steal socks and shred paper towels. He’s doggy door trained but is not a fan of the crate although his foster mom is working with him on it. Skippy doesn’t like to be left alone and so a family that is not gone for long periods of time would be the best fit for him. Skippy hasn’t been around younger children so his best fit home would be one with adults or children 8+ years, and one with a securely fenced yard. His adopters will also need to commit to a lifetime of regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption application to be filled out which includes personal references. An in-Home check by a Mikey's Chance volunteer is also performed prior to adoption. Our dogs come to the adopter "ready-to-go" with current Vet health checks, all shots and vaccinations current and the animal spayed or neutered, as well as micro-chipped.

Our adoption process can take 2-4 weeks to process as we are run completely by volunteers, all of whom work full time jobs.

Go meet their pets

We depend on a network of volunteers and fosters for the care of our dogs. The dogs are fostered primarily in Tri-Cities, WA. We often have Meet 7 Greet events at Petsmart and Paws Natural Pet Emporium LLC both in Kennewick.

To find out about these and our other events check us out on Facebook or at our website at MikeysChance.com.

More about this rescue

"Mikey's Chance" is a dog rescue organization organized under Washington State articles of Incorporation as a Non-profit Charity. We focus mainly on saving dogs that are at risk or on “Death Row” in shelters in our area, and placing them to great families. We work with individual adopters, private rescuers, and rescue organizations that share our values. All our dogs are up to date on shots, sterilized, and microchipped prior to adoption, and they are all carefully evaluated to ensure the best possible match with adopters.
