My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Bindi is an estimated 2-year-old 40 lb brindle female pitty mix who was picked up as a stray very pregnant; her puppies were adopted but she was left behind so we tagged her. This was back in March, but then she tested heartworm positive. Our rescue partner Tail Lights rallied to secure a foster for her while she underwent heartworm treatment, and we agreed to sponsor her. She is now negative for heartworm and ready for a new leash on life!

Louisiana Foster Update: Bindi's personality is wonderful: she's a sweetheart, super easy, crate trained and potty trained. She is also smart, dainty, and not super demanding at all. She does well with other dogs but especially seems to gravitate to puppies; she will chase the cats if allowed.

Seattle Foster UpdateMama Bindi is warming up and is so far a joy! She is spunky, full of personality, sweet and very easy. She has gone in her crate without a peep from the first night. Not to mention her ears are ridiculous!

Bindi is incredibly playful, and is always happy for a round of tug, or to toss her stuffies around by herself.  She also has a great off switch, and is content to lay around on anything soft, and hangout during the work day. She loves a good snuggle at the end of the day!

She has some basic commands down, and is learning more every day.  So far she knows "sit", "down", "crate", and is learning "place" quickly.  She's very content in her crate, and has happily gone in since day one.  She sleeps quietly through the night in the crate, though she's always happy to see her people in the morning.

Bindi loves every person she's met so far, but would do best in a cat free house. She is working on her leash manners in our busy neighborhood, especially around unknown dogs.  She has done well in quieter neighborhoods in her past.

She is a super silly dog, and anyone who adopts her will fall in love instantly, we're sure!

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.

Animal History: This dog was pulled from Caddo Parish shelter in early March 2024 and unfortunately tested positive for heartworm. She was treated with fast-kill protocol in Louisiana and will be transported to Seattle after testing negative arriving 10/13/24, going to foster care and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.
