Meet Josie, the lively little lady who’s ready to bring a spark of joy to her forever home! Josie is a playful, curious pup who’s full of adventure, always exploring her surroundings and looking for her next toy to chase. Her absolute favorites? The flirt pole and her Giggle Ball—they never fail to make her tail wag! Josie is also a pro at cuddles and loves showering her foster mom with affectionate kisses.
Josie thrives on social time and loves puppy playdates, so she’d be a great addition to a home with or without other dogs. While she's shown a playful curiosity about cats, she’s easily redirected and doesn’t get too carried away. Although she hasn’t met any children yet, Josie’s confident, friendly personality makes her likely to be a hit with kids who know how to be gentle with a small puppy.
This smart cookie is making great progress on her housetraining and is highly motivated by treats, which makes learning new things a breeze. At night, Josie feels safe and secure sleeping in her crate, which connects to an x-pen for a little extra space.
Josie’s foster family knows there’s someone out there just waiting to welcome a fun, spunky “peanut” like her into their home. If you’re ready for endless play, puppy kisses, and a forever friend, Josie is the one for you!
Josie is estimated to be 9 weeks old and 8 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

More about this rescue
Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.
We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.
This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
