Icy and his best friend from home arrived together, Bonnie A692781, another male dog a bit older. They have excellent home notes having lived indoor life styles of comfort with cushy beds, walks and a yard space, another small dog and then at ages 6 and 10 they lost it all, not due to any fault of their own. Especially Icy really loves kids according to his notes. And his coat is so very silky and soft. They are both gentle and easy going and tend to each other quite well. We would love to see them land together. Icy cries loudly when Bonnie is taken out of the kennel away from him. This is a tough transition but they are hanging in there and let`s make this just a quick hop on the path to the rest of their lives. They are advocated for by their friends and fans including ClassicCaninesATX who help make bridges home for mature pups that find themselves in the shelter due to life`s hardships.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
