My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name's Riley!

I was first brought to the shelter in 2016, and after a short time I was adopted into a new family. Unfortunately I was recently returned to Heal due to my owner's declining health, and I'm now looking for another family to spend my golden years with.

I know most people are looking for a cute little puppy who will chew your shoes and furniture, and wake you up all hours of the night. But why not consider a more mature relationship!

I'm 11 years young, and still have plenty of pep in my step! I will shower you with unconditional love for the rest of my life, I just need someone who will give me a chance!!

One thing you should know about me is that when I came back to the shelter I had a lump growing on my side. The shelter staff took me to the vet and had it removed, and unfortunately it was a soft tissue sarcoma which is a form of cancer that will likely grow back at some point.

While we may not know how many years I have left, I'm still deserving of a loving family to share my life with. I know it may be scary for you to think about opening your heart to an older dog who will likely have some medical expenses in the future. But it's also scary for me not having a family to love me as I get older.

Please consider opening your heart to the love of senior. I promise to make you smile every day!
