Meet our beautiful, soulful hound mix, a 5 1/2-year-old sweetheart named Zelda, who is ready to find her forever home! This lovely girl weighs 55 pounds and has a heart full of love to give. She’s very sweet and great with other dogs and even the cat. Once she gets over her initial timidness, she absolutely adores people and will be your loyal companion.
She loves being outside, exploring, and sniffing around. She’s house-trained and crate-trained, though she doesn’t need the crate. She’s also comfortable in the car, making her a great travel buddy.
Her journey hasn’t been easy. Rescued as a 6-month-old pup, she spent much of her life in a crowded rescue down south, where she didn’t get the attention and socialization she deserved. Now in New England, she’s looking for a patient and loving person or family who will help her decompress, learn a routine, and discover that life is good outside of a crate and fenced area.
Her perfect home will have another confident dog to help her feel secure, be on the quieter side, and if there are children, they should be older. While not required, a fenced yard would be ideal for this beauty to safely explore.
If you’re looking for a beautiful, soulful dog who will reward your patience with endless love and loyalty, she’s the one for you. Help her find the forever home she’s been dreaming of! 🐾❤️

More about this rescue
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.
Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
