Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Pecan!
Pecan is our young black kitten who arrived to our facility with his siblings Pistachio, Almond, and Chestnut. He's currently trying his best to figure out this big scary world with his sister Chestnut at our Rehoboth location. The first week or so he was here, him and his sister did not want to leave their little condo. But the two of them recently were brave enough to venture out into the free roaming kitten room. Pecan is doing pretty well and has made several new feline friends but he does still scurry away when any humans try to come into the room. Pecan is definitely a pro at finding the best hiding places! Pecan's purfect home would be with a family that will be patient and continue to work with him to help build his confidence.
Kittens require a significant amount of patience and training to learn how to behave properly in a home. The first few months of having a kitten is a critical time to improve socialization and help your kitten become confident. Exposing your kitten to all kinds of touch, sounds, people, and animals can ensure a well-socialized adult cat. Remember, kittens aren't born knowing how to live in a human's world, it is up to you to teach them how to make good decisions in a positive and caring manner. The more positive interactions they have in their first year of life will set them up for better behavior in the future.
If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.
