Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Chestnut!
Chestnut is our young tabby kitten who arrived to our facility with her siblings Pistachio, Almond, and Pecan. She's currently trying her best to figure out this big scary world with her brother Pecan at our Rehoboth location. The first week or so she was here, her and her brother did not want to leave their little condo. But the two of them recently were brave enough to venture out into the free roaming kitten room. Chestnut is still a little unsure with the other kittens and prefers to sit high up in a tower in order to keep an eye on all the mischief rather that join in herself. However, when any human enters the room, she will tell you that she sees you and that she'll keep her eyes on you like the good watch kitty she is! Chestnut would do best in a home where her new family will be patient with her and give her the time to build her confidence up!
Kittens require a significant amount of patience and training to learn how to behave properly in a home. The first few months of having a kitten is a critical time to improve socialization and help your kitten become confident. Exposing your kitten to all kinds of touch, sounds, people, and animals can ensure a well-socialized adult cat. Remember, kittens aren't born knowing how to live in a human's world, it is up to you to teach them how to make good decisions in a positive and caring manner. The more positive interactions they have in their first year of life will set them up for better behavior in the future.
If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.
