Lunch will be at our Adoption Center as of Friday, October 25th. You can visit our Adoption Center at any time during open hours, no appointment needed. Fill out our quick adoption survey on our website before visiting to streamline the process.
Lunch is:
Spayed: Yes!
Up to date on vaccines: Lunch is still receiving her core puppy vaccine series and will need one additional vaccine after adoption to reach full immunization
Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized

Housebroken: Working on it! She has done best when taken out every 2 hours, but can still have accidents and will need to keep working on this
Crate trained: She has been doing well overall in a large crate with an attached playpen, with her sister Dinner. She has done well overnight and when home alone for up to 2 hours so far, after taking a short time to settle.
Leash walking: Doing well so far!
Dog social: She lives with her sister Dinner and a resident dog in her foster home and has been doing well!
Cat social: Unknown
Kid friendly: She has done well in meeting a toddler
Lunch has no known medical needs beyond routine wellness care
Lunch likes:
- Snuggling with you
- Playing with a dog pal, or a good chew toy
- Learning new things in exchange for tasty snacks
Lunch a sweet and cuddly little lady! She's always ready to curl up on your lap ready for a good cuddle session. She's also very smart and treat motivated so she will do really well with training (she already knows that as soon as she goes potty outside, she'll get a treat!). She loves to play with other dogs, and has also been very sweet in meeting a young child. She will need a little help to keep working on housebreaking, but has been making good progress already. Lunch will do best with an adopter who is ready for all the stages that puppyhood and being an adolescent brings.
OTAT requires that all dogs 6 months and under be enrolled in a positive reinforcement training program within 2 weeks of their adoption at their adopter's expense.
Lunch's adoption fee is $350, and this sweet girl is eager to curl up on her human's lap!

Our Adoption Center has adoptable dogs. Adoptable cats and bunnies live in foster homes. We work on a first come basis. We are limiting the amount of visitors on site, so you may be asked to be added to the waitlist when you arrive. We require all family members of the household (including any resident dogs with current vaccination records) to be present at the introduction. We recommend being prepared to adopt same-day as the dogs at our Adoption Center are available for direct adoption and we do not “hold” them for specific applicants.

More about this rescue
One Tail at a Time (OTAT) started as a backup plan for dogs that were not getting adopted or rescued by other groups in the area shelters. Over the years we have experienced consistent and steady growth: we are among the top transfer partners for dogs at Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) and for cats at several open intake shelters in Indiana, we have a robust transport program in which dogs are rescued from high-kill shelters in southern states, and we are even able to pull dogs from a rescue partner in Tulum, Mexico to help them get adopted in the Chicagoland area. Our growth has been, and continues to be, due to the overwhelming support received from our community.
Members enable us to take on complex medical cases and continue to grow our annual intake numbers. Volunteers have continued to line up to foster and care for dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs, to take on leadership roles, and to help build One Tail at a Time into a well-known and respected rescue organization in Chicago and beyond.
Due to our continuous growth and immensely supportive community of members, volunteers, fosters, adopters, and more, we have evolved into the One Tail at a Time Cooperative!
