My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"From every wound, there is a scar, and every scar tells a story. A story that says, I survived.” Liselle is a petite Pyr. She is what we call a pocket Pyr and weighs 46 pounds. She is sweet and affectionate. She is a happy little Pyr and will dance around when she sees you and will paw at you to be petted.

Liselle was rescued from a Texas animal shelter as a stray with a back leg she carried and did not use. Her foster mom says, “she is a vibrant dog even with all she has been through, shattered leg, amputation, and a broken tail. The dogs in her foster home give Liselle confidence and help her feel safe.”

She gets around happily, going on walks in the park. She has no problem getting on the sofa for a nap or getting out of the car, although she still needs help getting in. Liselle is potty trained and is perfectly behaved in the house.

Liselle would like to be with another friendly dog to show her the ropes in her forever home. She would thrive in a family that will give her lots of love and snuggles. Liselle would do best in a home without a lot of stairs and floors that are not too slippery. Area rugs are great for her. If you can offer Liselle a wonderful home, please apply today!

GPRS has proudly placed thousands of Great Pyrenees and GP mixes in the PNW for over a decade. Our volunteers have over 100 years combined experience fostering, screening, and placing this majestic breed into loving, forever homes. When adopting from us, you can rest assured that we provide life-long support and advice when it comes to your new family member. As always, our purpose is to find the best match for every unique dog that comes through our doors. Taking the time to find the right fit comes first and foremost at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society. If you are interested in adopting, please take the time, and apply. You will see firsthand how much care, attention and love goes into the process, when you are guided a personal screener. This is why we have people come back again and again for their next family member! See all our dogs, fill out an application and discover why we are the BEST at placing the right dog in the right home!

ADOPTION, FOSTERING, AND DONATIONS are just some of the ways you can help a rescued dog. We have worked hard to cultivate a large network of volunteers to save this majestic breed. While monetary donations are always much appreciated, you can also help by donating your time as a GPRS foster or volunteer.

Additional adoption info

GPRS works hard to find the perfect home for all the dogs in our care. Listed below is the order of events that we go through to assure that our dogs and our applicants are the "Pyrfect" match for each other.

1) fill out our short application

2) after receiving your application, we will verify with your vet care on your animals

3) we will contact you to discuss your current situation and which dog might be best for you

4) After discussion, we will arrange a home visit to check your fencing to make sure that it is secure for the pyr that you would like to adopt.

5) After your home visit, you can meet your pyr - if s/he doesn't come along for the home visit!

6) Sign adoption contract and give adoption donation for your newest family member!
