My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Little Foot! FKA Stegosaurus!

This playful 4-year-old girl is joy emobodied! Her past is a bit of a mystery, she was found tied to a fence near Coney Island with another dog and entered the shelter as a stray. But from the moment we met her, it was love at first sight. She’s fantastic with other dogs and absolutely adores her humans. Halloween was her favorite holiday because she got to say hi to so many people! It's not an exaggeration to say this dog is perfect. I swear she can understand everything you say because she follows directions she's never been trained to know. She's completely house trained and hasn't shown any destructive behaviors or resource guarding. She is obsessed with squirrels so she would probably do better in a house without small pets (besides dogs) and cats. All this sweet girl wants is to give love and be loved in return

  • Commands Known: Sit, come, stay, no, stop, her name

  • Leash Manners: Little Foot may pull a little on leash, but it's very manageable. She definitely loves squirrels, birds, and cats (and Halloween decorations shaped like cats), so just be aware that she will pull towards them.

  • Kids/Dog Manners: Little Foot is wonderful with both kids and dogs. Halloween was the happiest time for her because she got to say hello to so many. She may accidentally knock a small child down by accident because she is so happy and excited so I would recommend a home with kids 4 and up. Little Foot adores dogs and loves to play. She has been really good with my senior pomeranian who doesn't love play but will on occasion. They have figured out each other's limits and respect them.

  • Something she loves: Pets and cuddles and people! She is the happiest wiggle butt. She also loves treats, but will take people over treats! She also just loves being outside even if it's just to lie down next to you.

  • Things she is working on: Little Foot doesn't have separation anxiety. She has "I love everyone and that person left and now I'm sad" anxiety. Even if we're home she'll sit at the door and whine for whoever left to come back. We distract her with a high value, long lasting treat. We also give that to her when we leave. Eventually she figures out we're gone and is sad about it, but settles pretty quickly.

  • Noise Level: Until recently we only thought she would make a small whine when she was sad (which isn't very often). We've recently learned if she's playing with another dog who is barking she will bark too! It was very surprising for us when we heard it the first time. We have never heard her bark in any other context.

  • Potty: She has never had an accident in the house since we've gotten her. She easily does her business outside and has never given us any trouble.
