My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a sweet, social, older gal, looking for the perfect forever home!

I can go home today!

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.

Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!

Mimi interacts with the observer, appreciates attentions and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. We recommend that she go to a home with adopters with some cat experience preferred AND be well counseled in overstimulation and feline body language.

A volunteer writes: We know that Mimi likes to have a little time to think when she meets new people. I'm also like that, so I sat back and let Mimi run the show. She excels at leading the way and watching her decisions float by like little stars means that hanging out with Mimi is an experience in cat! Mimi came forward for some treats when I opened the door and promptly said no, thank you. Turning her back to me, Mimi went on to explain that if I had to be there, then just forget the whole thing. Seconds later she looked over her shoulder and asked if she could just have a little treat on her own terms. Yes, of course! After treats, she settled into her cubby and tucked her head into the side. Looking at me like the last few minutes were nothing to think about, she looked for some pets. Just a few extra moments of patience and I had made it to her inner circle. Mimi stretched her head back into scritches, snuggling this way and that. She is hoping to find a family who will celebrate her style and love her for exactly who she is.
