My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a sweet, gentle, fuzzy panther to add to your family? Napoleon might be the cat for you!

This 7-year-old kitty came to us in August from one of our partner rescues here in Maine. He was transferred to HART because he is diabetic, and we have a lot of experience with successfully caring for diabetic cats. His diabetes is currently well-managed with a low-carb, canned food only diet (in our shelter, we feed Fancy Feast Classic Pate), and twice-daily insulin injections. We will require that his adopter has a well-established relationship with a veterinarian, because we are committed to the health and happiness of Napoleon and his new guardians even after they leave our shelter. HART's Medical Team will provide his adopter training in the care of a diabetic cat (it’s easier than you think!), along with a blood-glucose testing kit, a vial of insulin with related supplies, and a generous starter amount of canned food. In order to make these preparations, he won't be able to go home on the same day that you meet him.

Napoleon will be a fantastic addition to a family looking for a laid-back cat-panion. Meet him in Room 4.
