My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I’m Jupiter, and I can’t wait to find my forever home. I’m the cutest little black kitten you’ll ever meet, with fascinating claws that could remind you of Wolverine—watch out! Plus, I have the most adorable ear fluffs that just make me even cuter! My coat is quite the mix too, with shades of brown and black, and I’m starting to get some white patches coming in. I’m a sweet, playful, and easy-going little guy. I get along famously with all my foster siblings. Treat time is my favorite time! I can’t resist churro treats, and every once in a while, a bit of chicken baby food is pure bliss. While I’m definitely more chill than my foster brother, I still enjoy a good play session. My favorite toy is a little ball with a bell that jingles delightfully, and I could spend hours climbing on my small climbing post. If you’re looking for a sweet companion with a playful side, I’m your boy! I’m ready to bring some joy and love into your life. Let’s create some wonderful memories together! More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAs) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. FRAs was founded in 2004 by 4 volunteers who wanted to support the Rowlett Animal Shelter. Our organization has grown to over 300 volunteers, and with this growth, we now support two municipal shelters -- Rowlett, TX and Garland, TX – and operate our own cat rescue program.

Our mission is to provide resources, programs and education to promote adoption and care of homeless pets in our community. FRAs’ vision is a world where every companion animal has a safe and loving forever home. We are a 100% all volunteer run organization, and our ability to help homeless animals depends on donations from the community and grant funding.

Our organizational programs include operating the volunteer program for both shelters, providing funding for heartworm treatments and emergency medical care, accepting cats from the shelter and citizens into our foster-based cat rescue, supporting TNR/SNR efforts for community cats and most recently funding dog transport initiatives. Our volunteers spend thousands of hours socializing and marketing the animals for adoption, which increases the number of animals with a positive outcome. FRAs has helped countless pets avoid euthanasia, find their forever homes and live longer, healthier lives.
