My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ATDR 3625

Meet Sassy, a loooong beautiful girl...everything about her is long from her nose to her back! She was surrendered to ATDR by a breeder who was sizing down on their pack. She's now sharing life in a comfortable foster home being well loved and well cared for while ATDR searches for the perfect forever home for her!

At six years old, Sassy is a bit set in her ways, so we are fairly clear as to what kind of home would be best for her! She is completely kennel trained and doesn't mind going into the crate when asked. She is a bit of a rough player so it is good that she can find some down time in her comfortable spot in the crate. Sassy is selective with her companions and singled out a couple in her temporary foster home that she was not fond of -- all different, so she doesn't have a 'type.' For these reasons we suggest she be an only dog or the only small dog in a home with another larger dog(s). Sassy is a serious alpha female, beautiful with a strong personality. She loves her people probably more than other dogs in her life and will be the most loving and loyal dog you can imagine. She does seem to single out the older and weaker dogs, so to avoid any fractious interaction she won't do well in a house with senior dogs. We think she loves to soak up all the attention herself.  She's only had a couple accidents in her foster home possibly being due to not being let outside quickly enough...she would probably do well with a doggy door to use. Sassy has become quite the cuddle bug in her permanent foster home. We have no doubt she would love to sleep in the big bed with her human(s)!

Sassy needs to go to a home with no small children. Responsible teenagers would probably be okay. If you're looking for a best friend and companion to share all the good things in life with, please submit an adoption application for Sassy! She will steal your heart and love you more than you could ever imagine.

More about this rescue

All Texas Dachshund Rescue, Inc., is made up of a group of volunteers whose primary goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home disabled and otherwise endangered Dachshunds who have found themselves homeless for one reason or another. It is our policy that no dogs will be adopted out without first being spayed or neutered, have had all vaccines updated, are heartworm negative, are on heartworm preventative, and have had all other health issues we consider important to the pet’s life addressed that we are able.

All incoming Dachshunds will be placed in temporary foster homes, where they will be evaluated while living indoors with the foster families in a safe and nurturing home environment, until such time as they are ready to be placed in a loving, adoptive, forever home.

A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
