My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

The first few years of Ruby’s life seem to have been tough. When she first came to TFP, approximately 16-months ago, we highly suspected she had been used as a bait dog. Bite marks and scars covered most of her body. She was underweight, parasite infested, and in addition she tested positive for heartworm.

Ruby was placed in one of our loving foster homes and over the next 16 months she received all the medical care she needed to become a healthy, happy, adoptable little girl. Ruby is now ready, waiting, and dreaming of her own forever home!!

Ruby is an American Bully and is not quite 5-years-old. She LOVES her people and she's happy and content being with them. She loves to be on the receiving end or any attention giving and is especially happy when people indulge her in one of her favorite activities…..belly rubs.

Ruby is fostered in a very busy home with lots of activity.......lots of dogs, lots of kids, and lots of people in and out. This has given Ruby the advantage of being well socialized. Ruby has been around kids of all ages, infants to teenagers, and has done well with all of them!

Ruby gets along wonderfully with all the dogs in her foster home (and there are several). When she isn’t chewing on one of her favorite chew toys, she is snuggling up on her dog bed with one of her foster pup siblings.

Ruby has a playful spirit but also loves to just chill like a couch potato. She does love taking walks and has good leash manners. Being good on leash makes Ruby a great walking partner and makes walking a pleasure, not a chore.

Ruby knows her basic commands and is highly food motivated. It’s jokingly said Ruby “has never met a treat she didn’t like!” Because treats keep her motivated, that helps keep training fun. Ruby is also crate trained, and housebroken.

Ruby can sometimes require slower introductions with new people (more often men than women), but then warms up in no time and she’s your friend for life!

More about this rescue

We are not selective about the breed of dog we help. We consider the lives of all breeds to be equal. The labor force behind our mission is 100% volunteer staffed. We save dogs from shelters as well as from owners who cannot care for their dogs any longer. The dogs we take in are placed in loving foster homes until they find their forever home. We do not have a brick and mortar facility; we are 100% foster based including loving fospice for terminally ill dogs. We work to support the local community by providing education on care and treatment of dogs. Promoting safe handling, the importance of vaccinations, heartworm prevention, advocating and providing financial assistance to those in need for spay and neutering. We arrange for community outreach by building kennels and outdoor shelters to get dogs off chains.
